Restival takes place on sacred land: part Native American settlement, part Reservation and peaceful grazing land. The backdrop comprises of the Painted Desert, Grand Falls, the Hopi Mesas and the meteorite, James Turrell’s Roden Crater Project that dominates the skyline. Tribes have called this place Dinétah (homeland) for centuries. This year’s inaugural Restival Arizona closed with nature performing at it’s finest. It was Friday, harvest celebrations and our last night together in the Painted Desert, and our sunset yoga session and gong bath was interrupted with the arrival of the most enormous orange Harvest Moon rising slowly above the desert . As the sun set, the New Moon lit up our camp and coyotes in the distance howled goodbye to us.
